AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution Is Now Available and Coming Soon in Over 70 Games (2024)

The Fastest Adopted Software Gaming Tech in AMD History (1)

The holiday season is here, and I am sure we’re all looking forward to getting some time off to rest and recharge, and more importantly, indulge in our favorite pastime, gaming. But along with celebrating the holidays, we here at AMD would also like to take the time to celebrate another significant day – the 6-month anniversary of the launch of AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR). (2) And to go along with that celebration, we have an amazing gift for gamers -- the gift of more performance (3) in over 70 available and coming soon games, all thanks to FSR.

Today’s anniversary is a significant milestone for FSR, as in only half a year, our latest AMD FidelityFX™ technology has garnered support from over 80 game developers and publishers and is available now in 47 games and 24 upcoming games. Because of this broad and rapid support, FSR has become the fastest adopted software gaming technology in AMD History! (1)

Get a Boost in Frames for Your Games

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution uses cutting-edge spatial upscaling technologies to help boost your framerates and deliver high-quality, high-resolution gaming experiences, all without the need to upgrade to a new graphics card. FSR is supported on a broad spectrum of new and older GPUs, including integrated graphics, and also works on select products from any vendor, not just AMD.

FSR can help improve performance in many of the challenging scenarios that gamers face today, such as when gaming at 4K, using demanding effects like ray tracing, or achieving high framerates in the latest games on high-refresh-rate monitors. In fact, on AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series graphics cards with FSR “Performance” mode ON, you can get on average 2.5x better performance at 4K across select titles vs. FSR OFF. (3)

Recapping an Amazing First 6 Months

Leading up to today and the exciting news that FSR is now supported in so many games, we’ve also had some other significant milestones for this technology in 2021. It all started with our Computex 2021 reveal at the end of May, and that was soon followed by the launch of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution on June 22 (see the launch video below).

For our launch, 7 games were available with FSR, so with 47 games available today, that’s over 6x more games in just 6 months. We also announced that 40 developers were on board to support FSR, and we’ve now doubled that to the 80 we have today.

Since the launch, FSR only continued to build momentum – in July we made FSR available on GPUOpen as an open source fast and easy to integrate collection of cutting-edge spatial upscaling algorithms, freely available for any developer to use with their games, along with full documentation and an FSR sample demo.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution also gained support in major commercial game engines, with Unity becoming the first to integrate FSR – at first in beta form in July, then in the final Unity 2021.2 Tech Stream release in October. We also added support for Unreal® Engine, with a plug-in for UE4 v4.27.1 (or greater) released in November, making it very easy for developers using Unreal Engine to quickly add FSR to their games.

47 Games Now Available With FSR

Let’s get to what we all really care about, the games! At the 6-month anniversary of the launch of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, the technology has been made available in 47 games that you can kick back and get in some serious playtime on over the holidays.

AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution Is Now Available and Coming Soon in Over 70 Games (1)

As you can see from all the game logos above, FSR is supported in a very broad selection of games in many genres, from AAA game titles, such as DEATHLOOP™, Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition for PC, F1® 2021, Far Cry® 6, and Resident Evil™ Village -- to acclaimed titles from smaller developers such as Assetto Corsa® Competizione, Farming Simulator 22, Ghostrunner, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Lego Builder's Journey, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and World War Z™: Aftermath, and tomorrow’s next big hits currently in early access, such as Arcadegeddon, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Grounded.

In these games, you can expect to see AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution help deliver some significant performance boosts when using FSR “Performance” mode -- for example, in Ghostrunner, just recently updated with FSR, you can get up to 2.9x more performance at 4K at the “Epic” graphic preset with ray tracing on (4), a huge boost in framerates for this fast-paced game. To see some more FSR performance results from the newest games to get FSR, check out the chart below.

You can also see FSR in action in some of our ON/OFF comparison videos on YouTube -- Far Cry® 6, Resident Evil™ Village, Necromunda: Hired Gun, Chernobylite, and World War Z™: Aftermath.

24 Upcoming Games With FSR

But wait…there’s more! We also have 24 upcoming games getting FSR. Some of these games are some of your favorites being updated with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, such as Escape from Tarkov, Hitman 3, No Man’s Sky, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Others are upcoming blockbusters like Forspoken, God of War, and more.

These 24 games are just the beginning of even more titles expected to get FSR in 2022.

Supported by Over 80 Games Developers

Of course, if it wasn’t for all the game developers and publishers supporting FSR, we wouldn’t have the 70+ games with FSR now or upcoming that we have today on our anniversary, and over the past 6 months, over 80 developers, studios, and publishers have all come on board to support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution.

AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution Is Now Available and Coming Soon in Over 70 Games (3)

Like the supported games, we have a wide variety of developers from across the globe supporting FSR, big and small, from established long-time industry stalwarts to fresh startups working on their first game.

The fact that we have so many developers supporting AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution in such a short time is a testament to one of the key pillars of AMD GPUOpen (our website with tools and technologies for game developers) -- a firm belief in the benefits of supporting open standards and providing open-source solutions that any developer can use, with FSR being one.

This, along with how fast and easy it is for developers to integrate FSR into the games, means that it’s no surprise that we already have so many developers supporting us.

What’s Next for FSR in 2022?

The rapid adoption of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution by the industry since its launch in June 2021 clearly shows that FSR has filled a need for a high-quality upscaling solution that is easy to implement into games and applications and is supported across a broad spectrum of hardware from any vendor. What’s amazing about the momentum building behind FSR is that it will only continue to accelerate as more and more games adopt the technology.

Looking forward to 2022, we have the 24 upcoming games getting FSR for you to play and enjoy higher framerates in thanks to our technology, and there is even more to come. While we can’t share any details yet, you can expect to see even more games support FSR. But what I can say is that we’re just getting started with FSR, so stay tuned for more information! Happy Holidays from everyone on the FSR team at AMD and we’ll see you in the New Year!
