Cheap cork handles can fall apart in time. The guides can become grooved by the fishing line over many years, which can cause the line to fray. But the guides can be replaced if they are scored and even the cork handles can be refinished if they start to disintegrate. A quality fishing rod can last for decades.

On average, a largemouth bass fishing rod is between 6 and 8 feet. The longer the rod, the longer an angler will be able to cast. Longer rods give a greater range and accuracy, which can be helpful when casting lures designed to cover large areas like crank bait or spinner bait.
